How To Choose Ski Clothes

Firstly, your ski clothes should not be too tight-fitting, unless it's professional racing attire, as it restricts your movements while skiing. Opt for a loose-fitting jacket with sleeves extending a little past your wrists when you stretch your arms upwards. Adjustable cuffs, an erect high collar, and trousers of appropriate length – touching your ankle when squatting – are crucial to prevent cold air and snow intrusion. Additionally, trousers should feature a double-layered structure, where the inner layer has an elastic closure with anti-skid rubber snugly fitting over your ski boots. The outer layer should be reinforced with a wear-resistant lining to avoid damage from ski boot impacts.

Secondly, ski suits come in two designs: two-piece and one-piece. Two-piece suits are convenient to put on, but they require high-waisted trousers with braces and soft belts. Their tops should be loose, with a retractable waist and a belt or drawstring to prevent snow from entering after a fall. Sleeves should be loose and longer due to the extensive movement involved in skiing, particularly for novices. One-piece suits, though slightly inconvenient to put on, offer superior snow prevention and overall comfort. From personal experience, one-piece suits provide more convenience while skiing.

Thirdly, considering that most ski resorts in China are situated inland with a cold, dry climate, your ski clothing's outer material should be durable, tear-resistant, and windproof. Nylon or tear-resistant fabric with windproof treatment is recommended. As many ski lifts in China are open-air with low temperatures, insulating materials like hollow cotton or DuPont cotton should be used for the inner layers to ensure skiers stay warm. Personal experience suggests that one-piece ski suits provide better warmth.

Fourthly, vibrant colors like red, orange, sky blue or any color contrasting with white are the best options for ski clothing. Not only do they enhance the sport's aesthetic appeal, but they also serve as a conspicuous indicator for other skiers to prevent collisions.

Fifthly, ski clothing should have large zipper openings for easy operation while wearing gloves, and several easily accessible large pockets to store commonly used skiing essentials. Wide ski gloves with separate fingers and long wrists that ideally cover the cuffs are necessary. Elastic seals can help prevent snow from getting in. It's also recommended to choose a pullover ski cap that only exposes the front half of the face to protect against cold wind, which is especially important for women. A well-fitted and attractive ski suit, paired with your elegant skiing style, guarantees an enjoyable experience.

Lastly, due to the frequent need to handle ski equipment and ski poles, wide ski gloves with separated fingers and long wrists are essential. Ideally, they should cover the cuffs, and if there's an elastic band to seal it, it can effectively prevent the intrusion of snow. The ski cap should preferably be a pullover type, which only exposes the front half of the face to shield against the cold wind, especially significant for women.
